Edinburgh Airport is not a gateway; it's a meticulously designed money trap. From the moment you approach, the extortion begins. Drive through the drop-off zone by mistake? Charged. Enter the car park but leave immediately without parking? Charged. Simply need a luggage trolley after a long flight? Charged. There is no gesture of goodwill, only the relentless whirring of barriers and scanners extracting cash at every possible turn. The experience is compounded by a baffling lack of common sense. Barriers remain inplace, forcing you through pointless, empty zig-zag queues for no reason other than what appears to be sheer laziness. This place should be utterly ashamed. For countless visitors, this is their first impression of Scotland, and it screams one thing: we care more about your wallet than your welcome. An appallingly greedy operation that leaves a bitterly sour taste. Avoid where possible.

The worst airport in Britain along with the worst management. It’s portrayed to passengers that there was a sudden incident that impacted the baggage handling service that had a knock on effect of a 2 hour 15 minute delay to retrieve my baggage last night on the flight from Larnaca But I had the same in July coming back from Majorca If you read the reviews going back some time it’s a repetitive subject that senior management chooses to ignore due to people at this time not voting with their feet and going elsewhere. Full of praise for the Jet 2 staff who faced and helped the public unlike the management Only industry who subject their customers to the poorest customer service without any accountability, compensation to customers or support to the baggage handlers who ,though undermanned still turn up to get put through the mill to make up for the lack of numbers. Time the government stepped in or the public vote with their feet

Your staff at gate 1F today were clearly lying telling people the lift did not work, which it clearly did when seeing an escorted passenger using it. Very hard for a fairly agile old person with osteoarthritic knees having to go encountering the stairs descending. Why not letting your passengers use your lifts???This happens so often at your airport. Worst airport in Europe!! Shame on you!!

Shambles. Nearly everyday something major breaks, including the vehicles with the stairs to disembark the aircrafts, the baggage carousels, literally the front doors to the airport. It takes approximately an hour to get your baggage & get through passport control. There isn’t enough space in the terminal for the volume of people, no seating, dirty & often too hot. The car park was designed by an absolute idiot, it’s also £18 to stop in short stay for around 25 mins. When the new owners (who are obviously dreadful) took over, they should have negotiated a new CEO & upper management team, this place is absolutely disgraceful & DESPERATELY needs investment. Shameful bunch of incompetent clowns

Hi Edinburgh thanks for leaving our cases out in the rain, just arrived on holiday and found the clothes in both cases wet.

Was made to stand for 90 minutes waiting for my luggage while 2 American airplanes were put before us. Whilst the management strutted around with the official from American Airlines. Was obvious we were there first. More disgusted with the fact that people in wheelchairs were totally disregarded in this respect. Tackled the management and the office and eventually managed to get our luggage.

For a country's capital this airport is the pits. Just traveled to the airport and £6 drop off is ridiculous and even the baggage trollies have a charge for their use "go stingy Scotland". Used two of the toilets whilst waiting for my flight only to find some of the urinals and wash hand basin also out of order 🤨 Not a very good impression of Scotland

Had a 6 am flight. Queue to security took 45 mins. I was looking at some holiday photos on my phone while waiting when some 19/20 years old security guy (?) aggressively tapped me on my shoulder and said “you delete that, I saw what you did” assuming I took a photo. I said I didn’t and showed him and he vaguely apologised. Going through security was chaotic. When about to board, some young girl checked our passports and tickets not really knowing what she was doing g and scrolling through her social media (!!!). No indication on the priority boarding either so no one knew where they were meant to be. Customer service is a skill that staff in this airport obviously lack of. I’ve been travelling through this airport for 17 years but this year was the worse.

Drop off is a complete rip off. £6 for 3 minutes today. Can't pay cash which I now see is advertised on line but didn't see any signs going in.

Arrived today to face an hour plus wait for our bags (again) this time two of the three bags were damaged. One unusable now. Guess I will have to eat that cost. Massive staff issues in baggage handling and clearly overwhelmed can only explain damaged luggage. I don’t mind stairs but any modern airport these days has escalators and travelators to speed up passenger flow. EDI failed to get that memo. The bolted on barn look of the most recent addition to the airport to house passports and baggage collection looks temporary, ugly and just so far behind other modern airports. And I never understand why you need to get stairs off the plane to the tarmac only to walk up more stairs when there are elevated unused attachable corridors in the parking bay of the plane?! All in all it looks like massive mis investment, and bad if not horrific management. A focus on growth at the expensive of class and quality that a city like Edinburgh deserves. Tourists first impressions will be one of shock and disappointment. Several passengers I waited with today missed their subsequent transport (train/bus) and had to book hotels for the night. Looking at reviews in the press this looks like it happens daily.

Congratulations,Edinburgh gets the 3rd World airport of the year award. Waited 25 minutes to be escorted off the plane. Enormous queue at the ladies and no toilet paper! So poorly laid out and down at heel. My advice is choose Glasgow or Inverness, both much nicer and actually cheaper

Terrible passport control for international flights, waiting for 45 minutes. Taxi fares also very expensive

I was checking in on the KLM 926 this morning and had the most horrific experience with ground staff of Swissport the girl if you can call her this was the most rude and disrespectful person I’ve witnessed and not just to myself but to other passengers and members of Swissport how can you employ these rude people you should be ashamed , and I think I’m pronouncing her name as Agniksa think it’s time you re -grouped your staff , I’m a frequent flyer and think newspapers should be looking at behaviour of Swissport once again , so badly managed!!!!

Unhelpful, rude staff, it was an awful experience at the baggage scan. The lady didn’t say a word, did not help just stared and made faces.

Edinburgh Airport is an absolute embarrasment. For international travellers to arrive into such poor conditions, over such an extended period, when they have travelled from other wonderful airports reflects poorly on the city and country as a whole. You're ferried through temporary walkways, unheated with gum stuck to the floors and herded into a shed for arrivals. Two international flights at the same time and a total of four staff on duty. One to manage the queuing "rope", one to point you to the do it yourself immigration machines and only two to conduct the process manually. Wait an age for baggage to arrive again in a temporary crowded space. The airport has spent a fortune on becoming a grand shopping mall but leaves its core function, of actually processing passengers, woefully underserved. Airports jn so-called third world countries are so much better appointed.....

Edinburgh Airport is ok to leave from, but it must be the worst in Europe to arrive into!! Having used Barcelona and Charles de Gaulle in the past two months, Edinburgh falls badly behind them - they both have escalators and travelators to help people move easily through the airport - when you arrive back in Edinburgh you are faced with three flights of stairs to climb, followed by a walk along a corridor, then two flights of stairs down to Passport control!!! - was there never any thought of installing escalators when the airport was 'improved' a number of years ago???
