I am a frequent flyer with my job taking me all over Europe, Middle East and Africa. Edinburgh Airport is too small and has inadequate facilities for the number of flights. Walking outside in our climate and continually parking "in the field" to then go by bus is right out of the 1980's. Having no segregation between domestic and international arrivals means less than optimal movement of passengers by shared corridors or again by bus. Easily the worst airport I travel through.

Poor Internet connection unable to download boarding passes Ryanair staff extremely unhelpful. frustrating experience other people having the same problem with the Internet connection at Edinburgh airport. Suggest better internet service and more staff.. One young man on customer service helped eventually.

Do not wish to enter through duty free area. Security still unpleasant, albeit better than it was. My wife was x rayed and physically frisked as well. Why? Soulless. By

Your policy and instructions regarding liquids going through security is very problematic! I have several cream prescribed medications (clearly labeled)and daily wear disposable contact lenses that I need to travel with. While each container was less than 3ml., they would not fit in the plastic bag you require for carry on. It seems some allowance could be made for medications to be carried on. In addition, while the woman gaining through my luggage was attempting to be helpful, it took her too long to inform me that the only option was to go back and check in the bag. This led to a mad rush to go back to the terminal and check in the luggage, thus barely making the flight. If you can not make exceptions for medications, please have better and very clear instructions about this at the entrance to security. I had already traveled through 4 other airports with no problems at security with any liquids!

Waiting for United plane to New York was like cattle in a paddock , all hearded in to a small confined space , the tannoy was not clear , we heard nothing and people just pushed to go forawrd sorry but will go via glasgow in future whilst Easy Jet passengers pushed into the same space making it dangerous and totally unpleasant

Sorry it is not just one bad experience it is every time, the new security measure's are hard to adapt to I can understand but the process and everyone filing through 1 or 2 scanners is plainly a joke, as is your method of getting through security line up behind persons 1-8, if the person in front of you has problems with liquids or any issues zyou can be stuck forever, very poorly thought out and very poorly implemented

Three separate domestic flights in one week and on each occasion the ground staff could not get steps to plane for 20-40minutes!

At arrival 01JUN by Norwegian D8 3502 it took 45 minutes to arrange the bus connection from plane to terminal. Afterwards it took 10 minutes to come from the bagage claim to the exit because of a very narrow passage. As a frequent traveller I have never experienced conditions like that before. Firstly our gate changed 5 times And each time it changed as soon as I arrived at the gate announced. I had to run to the other side of the airport several times. There was no air con at all through out your airport and many of us where over heating because of this and the gate changes! I felt like I was messed about numerous times. Flight was delayed by 1 hour and a half which wasn't your fault.

The security staff in the scanning area were very rude, complaining that people didn't understand the rules and dismissive of passengers' questions. One staff member trapped my finger between two boxes as he obviously thought my young kids should be loading things faster. I understand the need for security, but Stockholm airport we're just as vigilant in a pleasant and helpful manner.

Edinburgh airport is invariably a poor experience with a remarkable level of avoidable frustrations for the ordinary passenger. Staff try to be helpful and are always polite but there appear to be fundamental systemic problems that are beyond the capability of management to solve. I have been on the point of writing to complain about experiences of Edinburgh airport several times but when one gets home and start to deal with day to day stuff it falls by the way. I could write about the 2 hours it took to check in to a Chicago flight leaving barely enough time to clear security and get to the gate or all the luggage having to be unloaded and reloaded delaying our flight to Schipol jeapordising our connection to Panama (many on our flight did miss connections) or standing in the rain outside immigration on our way home from Copenhagen for 10 minutes having already waited 20 minutes for a set of steps to be found to allow us to disembark, a part of the now typical 75-90 minutes it takes between touching down and leaving the building to get a taxi. I could complain about the 75 minute wait for luggage to start appearing on the carousel between 6.30 and 7.45 am on a Sunday coming home from Newark -long overnight flight. The last two were a pain but more than that there were a lot of visitors to Edinburgh on those flights and quite frankly as a native of the city I was embarrassed. The airport arrival experience is consistently the poorest of all airports I visit. The departure when luggage check in is needed is disorganised and extraordinarily time consuming. Much worse than any other airport I can remember using. I will not talk about these incidents because they have been eclipsed by coming home from Nice on Sunday last. The flight was already c30minutes late when we landed at "local time" 11.45pm. That , of course is no fault of the airport however what followed was. There was no stand available so we had to wait in our seats for nearly 45 minutes that is until 12.30 am before we were able to start leaving the plane and join a huge queue at Immigration - another 30 minutes - and so even with only carry on it still took over 75 minutes to leave the building and get a taxi. I keep hearing how well Edinburgh is doing. How passenger numbers are up. However , talking with friends and colleagues , who have similar and even worse tales than mine , they use "their " airport with weary resignation and indeed avoid using it if they can reasonably do so. Many like me never fly to London on business anymore. The train works well and a 30 minute delay results in a refund of 50% of the fare. For overseas trips Newcastle airport is a lot more convenient than one might think and often a lot cheaper particularly with a family of five. If I served my clients the way I have been served by Edinburgh airport , I would not have any clients. Quite frankly there is a reliance on a combination of the perception that there is no reasonable alternative and travelling passenger inertia for repeat business. I must say staff always seem courteous if a bit frazzled particularly on check in and try to be helpful. The problems seem systemic and clearly to be to do with organisation and management. I am sorry to be so critical . I would love to be positive but candidly , at best the airport offers an experience to be endured. It was not always like this . It used to be an exciting start to the journey. Paul Renz

It was all a nightmare! Firstly I followed a friend down some stairs hoping to say goodbye to a friend who was going to Amsterdam...we had come from Orkney and were in transit... so we had to go through check in again and then despite sitting by the correct gate we failed to hear the call for the flight to Southampton and missed it... we then had to buy a new flight at an exhorbitant cost. Put me off Wdimburgh airport for life

I was one of the enlucky British Airways customers that had the flight cancelled on May 27th, and got no support from the company, neither from the airport staff. Unfortunatelly my experience could'nt have been worse!
