I experienced an extraordinary delay at security, which caused me to miss my flight. I had the same cabin bag I used getting through Gatwick on the same trip, but Edinburgh security had to search the bag. I also noted that the majority of the bags were sent to the search queue, without adequate personal to perform the searches and a subsequent build up of massive security delays. I spoke to the Airline and they mentioned that the delays were not an isolated occurrence. I would expect more from a modern airport.

My wife & I were scheduled to fly out of Edinburgh Airport on 1st May, 2017 for Dublin IRE. During the process of self checking our bags in, the machine stopped. By the time we found someone and tried to get help, we were informed that the cut off time for self checking of bags happened just after we started. The lady on the Service counter for Ryanair tried to get us on the flight but to no avail. We were told to go around to Swissair and book another flight which was leaving for Dublin after lunch. Not only did it cost us 100 pound for each ticket to be rebooked, it triggered me into an Anxiety attack. I suffer Chronic PTSD from my military service in the Australian Army. For the next couple of days I was on edge. Even when going through Customs later that day, I was that triggered from the experience in the morning that I sweated profusely all day. It is pretty poor by anyone's standards when an ex-member of the Military of a British Commonwealth country or any country for that matter to be treated the way I was not to mention the 200 pound fee I was charged to reschedule the flights for my wife and I. It is also a strain on her as she had to put up with my mental health issues for all of our married life. This trip was to be a special trip for us as it is for for 40th Wedding Anniversary.

I travel a lot and EDI is my least favourite airport. Last time I arrived we were parked at a remote stand over by the cargo depot. It took way too long to get us to the terminal. The check-in desks (for BA) are now badly positioned. The Security lines are always busy and there is always a rather hectic feel about this process. You have to walk round the houses to get to the taxi rank. In general the airport is too small and surprise, surprise, the investment seems to have been made in the duty-free area rather than in passenger comfort.

I use the airport a lot and normally it would rate as Acceptable. Yesterday I arrived for an early flight to find absolute pandemonium. The queues for Security filled the departures hall. This continued for almost an hour after I arrived. There were no announcements. The airlines knew nothing. I missed my flight, despite having arrived on time. Completely unprofessional conduct. And the reason the airport ranks only as acceptable normally is because it does everything possible to wring out as much money as possible from its customers, very obviously relegating non-business customers who are not paying large parking fees (for example) to a distinctly second class experience. I travel a lot for business and I am constantly shocked at how venal the airport is. Staff are always helpful, but air travel really doesn't have to feel like it is cheating the customers.

From the time that our plane DL 0409 stopped moving, it was 9-10 minutes before passengers were able to leave the plane (compared with about 2-3 minutes in most airports) and it was 28 minutes before the carousel started moving to deliver our luggage. Surely you can speed things up more. Also the toilets at the carousel place seemed rather primitive. I know your gradually improving things, but I hope you don't mind my comments. Best wishes, Hugh Trevor

1. congestion on approach road is unacceptable. 2. security queues are unacceptably long. Especially when not all lanes are open or not all the 'offload points' in each lane are open. 3. quantity/quality of toilets is poor.

OK there's a lot of work going on at the airport but ............... security and processing baggage and getting to and from an aircraft shouldn't take this long. Took over an hour to get through security at departures and when it came to boarding were bussed to Ratho to get our plane which is at the furthest away point you can imagine in the airport. On our return it took over an hour from landing to collecting our baggage from the hall. No doubt there will be some fancy way of expaining and it will be great in the long run but this place is a total shambles at the moment.

We arrived 27th April around 2.30PM, were taken by bus to the termianl and the driver said he could not let us off the bus as immigration was full. Only one part was open although there is two, he said. After a while he did let us off and we queued up outside the terminal for ages. Other planes arrived and they let off their passengers direct into the terminal with the result that it took even longer for us to even get inside. People nearly fought in order to get inside. It was a total disaster!

Airport was great and that's it....exchanging money was the biggest rip off, hard to change Scottish notes in Thailand , but lost over £150 just changing £1000 in airport rather than Thailand and they try chatting with you while they're ripping you off..never exchange money at Edinburgh airport will be my newest post on Facebook, and don't get me started on paying 2pound for bag of crisps, honestly to smile at someone while taking advantage of someone is just laughing in there face

You should have unlimited free WiFi. People depend on that when they are traveling & especially international. More places to sit & relax. We were stuck on a long overnight layover as well as several others & none of us could find seating much less a place to catch a couple of hours of rest. We travel alot & most international airport have a quiet or rest section for overnight passengers. The airport is in need of some remodeling. The few seating areas you did have were broke or tore. The airport also felt dirty.
