Most airports have smoking areas. Why doesn't Edinburgh Airport have one? There are a lot of smokers and they are much more stressed if they can't smoke.

After disembarking on a wet afternoon all passengers had to walk to passport control through puddles inside the terminal and pretty much guess which way to go. When in passport control no queue system or guidance until you hit the control zone but to do this you all have to merge with all other passengers coming from different entrances. Waited for over an hour to get through passport control which is a total joke. I have seen cattle being herded with more control and care. The staff are incompetent and lack any sign of customer service. For a so called international airport it’s embarrassing.

This airport is a public disgrace. It’s an embarrassment to be the airport for the capital city. Somebody needs to take back this airport from current owners and force investment in it

Once again in Edinburgh Airport. Waited 1 hour after the plane landed for our luggage. Missed our bus home. Abysmal service

Very rude staff and filthy toilets. I was subjected to a manual search whilst going through security. I travel a lot and have been searched before but never like this. The woman actually put her hands down my trousers. When I protested and said that was way too invasive, she asked, in a threatening voice, if I was objecting to the search. I felt if I objected that something worse would happen. I felt sick after it and went into the bathroom only to be confronted by overflowing sanitary bins and blocked toilets. I will never travel through this airport again.

This airport is a joke. Its bad enough being kept waiting abroad after the europeans sticking the boot in post brexit but to arrive into arrivals number one with 4 out of only 5 passport readers working while two border force staff sit doing nothing, its a joke. Doesn't finish there, they charge for a luggage trolly.

Pathetic, sitting on an aircraft for longer than we were in the air!!! Waiting on ground crew, not as if they didn’t know the aircraft wasn’t coming. Not enough staff PATHETIC

Delay of over an hour, the worst experience for security hall in UK - no idea what the problem was, no explanations, maybe poor staffing or perhaps this is normal customer experience for Edinburgh --- ill be avoiding this airport in the future. Good luck if you have to use this "airport"...

Absolute joke. Ridiculous queues, rude staff. My son missed his flight yesterday having queued for over 3 hours .... he didn't get as far as security. Its like busy periods come as a shock.... they know exactly how many flights and passengers they have every day. Totally unprofessional, unprepared, rude and a national embarrassment. I travel throughout Europe regularly.... worst airport I have used. Just as well there are no negative scores as one is a massive over assessment

Even though I live in the Scottish Borders, I no longer use Edinburgh airport. Either Newcastle or sometimes Manchester. The reason? Primarily the brutal rudeness of the airport staff and the appearance that stupidity is viewed as a virtue amongst the staff. Otherwise, read the other reviews and decide for yourself.

The worst airport in the UK. Airport is miss managed and a national disgrace to Scotland. They appear to be more focused on creating retail space for revenue than providing customer service areas. The Checkin hall is far too small and desperately needs expanding. Security was a joke and staff are rude. They treat customers like cattle. I noticed that the touch pads have been removed from the customer satisfaction stations at departures. The Board and Chairperson need to go.

I'm shocked and embarrassed by what I encountered at the airport in Edinburgh. I’ve just returned from a holiday with my family of four, including a 4-month-old daughter and a 6-year-old, five suitcases, three backpacks, and a car seat. I’ve never come across paid luggage trolleys at an airport before. Well done, Scotland, well done, Edinburgh. What they say about you being stingy is true, but I didn’t know you were this stingy. Shameful.

Welcome to the third world. Scotland is a disgrace, and its capital's airport typifies its decline and decay. The journey from plane toborder is ugly, dirty, smells of mould, and has many stairs. Baggage delivery is pitifully slow.

Edinburgh Airport is an absolute disgrace. I actually could not believe what I was seeing yesterday. I flew in from Dubai via Amsterdam into Scotlands capital city Edinburgh airport and felt an instant sense of disbelief, shame and embarrassment. Ceiling tiles, missing from ceiling were lying on walkway of passengers entrance to passport control, a cardboard box holding a door open and very dirty walls. First impressions !!! On entering passport control area the floor was disgustingly dirty with black blobs of stuff, no idea what it was and just so dirty. So onto winding your way to get to a passport office Took ages so plenty of time to view this disgusting area. Five passport control officers sitting at desks but we were all ushered to self scan area. Is there a point to their presence?? However our bags were on the carousel by the time we entered luggage reclaim area so one star given for that. Edinburgh Airport is an absolute disgrace to Scotland and as proud Scott I’d like to say the management of this airport is not good enough.

I travel regularly with my job and have been through around 15 different airport terminals this year. When flying from Scotland, I normally fly from Glasgow which is normally reasonably efficient and tidy. This week I flew from Edinburgh to Italy with my family for a short break. I was extremely disappointed with the inefficiency, untidiness and general lack of a sense of pride that appears to be taken in the running of Edinburgh airport. No set of steps appeared for rear of the plane until nearly everyone was as off, resulting in us being almost last off the flight. To add to the frustration we felt from this, we then had to wait for 40 minutes in a queue at passport control. While these issues might be explained by one off staffing issues or other exceptional operational problems, what I can’t excuse is the grubbiness, untidiness and complete lack of a sense of care that appears to be taken in the airport. As a proud Scot, I was wondering what my first impression would have been if I’d been an international traveller arriving in Scotland for the first time. I have to say Edinburgh Airport compares unfavourably with every other airport I’ve been through over recent times. It conveys a real lack of pride and little interest being taken in the passenger experience. This is just not good enough for such a key gateway to our fantastic country.

I would like to help prepare any international customers flying into Edinburgh airport for a depressing experience. You will arrive into ‘sheds’ with dirty floors and with quite grotesque murals on the walls. You will have to carry your hand luggage up and down several stairs. You will be met by staff some of whom will seem to resent you being there. You will wait endlessly on our luggage coming through on a dirty conveyor belt and in what you may regard as a final insult you will be asked to pay to ‘RENT’ a trolley. Please be assured once clear of the airport things should get better!

Edinburgh airport is a disgrace. People arrive into ‘sheds’ with dirty floors and have to climb up and down stairs with their carry-on luggage then in a final insult have to pay to rent a trolley. This airport belongs in some third world country.
